How can I find out if a charity is registered?

All registered charities have a unique registration number. You can request a charity's registration number from The Centre on Philanthropy (or look in our Nonprofit Directory) or from the charity itself. The monthly list of registered charities published by the Register General's office also lists the registration number of each charity. Please note that charity registration can expire - if there is an expiry date it is displayed on the Register's list. If there is no expiry date, this indicates that the charity has indefinite registration status.
